First, tell us a little about yourself.
As a little girl I have always had a notebook,
where I could write my dreams and fantasies down. Growing into adulthood I would read other authors work and say to myself that I can do the same thing. At the age of 31 I decided to write my first novel titled “The Caress Of A Younger Man”.
Since then I have written another romance novel titled “Heavenly Kingdom”, which I plan to introduce more plus size heroines into romance novels.
Though out the whole process I have learned that to write a great novel you have to be willing to learn and apply the information. I thank all the authors that
offered me advise and knowledge
DWED: Have you always aspired to
be a published author?
Yes I have, since I was in grade school I have
always dreamed of being the next Danielle Steele.
DWED: Would you say the journey
was easy or hard? Why?
It been a little of both, because the writing part
came easy to me. Once I got to the marketing, is when the hard part came, because some bookstores don't cover Indie Authors.
DWED: Who would you say inspired
you to write?
My moms Doris Wilson and Doris Harris, and my
Mother-in-law Doris Moore. They set the bar for me to follow my dreams and see thing though to the end and.
DWED: Are you a part of a book
club or organization?
I'm a member of the National Association of Women
on the Rise, which empowers women to be the best and not give up on their dreams. I'm also a member of The Raleigh Write to Publish Meet-up Group, and this group help any one that is aspiring to write or have written a novel to make it a reality.
DWED: Let’s delve into your
writing. Can you tell us about your published work?
Smooth As Silk is my third romance novel I have published and it was released February
1, 2013. It's also volume one in my Voluptuously Curvy and Loving It Series, where I introduce a series featuring plus size heroines.
It tells the story of Angela Patterson, who has had a hard life from being put in foster care at ten years old when her mother was killed and also being
separated from her only living relative, her older brother. Now Angela is living her life to the fullest and making a living doing the one thing that
makes her happy and that's singing. Angela sings at a nightclub called Olivia's, where she is offered the deal of a life time to boost her singing career with McNeil Records.
Gary McNeil is the oldest of six children by five minutes. Gary runs his record label with his twin brother Barry, and their other siblings. Gary has
always focused on work and his family till he laid eyes on Angela Patterson across the room in a crowed restaurant and he couldn't stop thinking about her. Fate steps in when his cousin, Mitch tells him about an amazing singer at his club and when Gary and his sibling check out this new singer, it turns out to be his mystery lady from the restaurant.
Will they be able to keep it strictly business or will the passion building between them bring them together?
can we look forward to seeing from you throughout 2013?
I will be releasing volume two of the Voluptuously Curvy and Loving It Series called Finding Love Within in June 2013.
DWED: What other avenues are you
using to promote your work and yourself?
I have been doing a lot of interviews on blogs, radio and newspapers. I plan to start doing some book
signings for book clubs and bookstores.
DWED: What would you say to all
aspiring authors like yourself?
To keep an open mind and continue to learn about your craft as a writer. Most importantly never give up, or let nay sayers make you second guess yourself.
DWED: Is there anything we
haven’t covered that you would like your readers and potential readers to know
about both your work and yourself?
I want my readers to know that I plan to bring new and passionate stories to the romance genre, so be on the look out
